Richard Haines wrote a scientific paper outlining hundreds of encounters that professional pilots have had with UFOs. He outlines a number of near miss encounters using standardized vector diagrams showing where the plane was in relation to the UFO, e.g. A total of 229 pilot and passenger witnesses were involved. In some cases passengers were injured as the pilots had to make an abrupt maneuver to avoid collision.
